Model Highlights

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 brings a rugged yet highly refined driving option to the roads of Scottsdale, Arizona. Built for individuals who appreciate an active outdoor lifestyle but still desire a comfortable, technologically advanced daily commute, this compact crossover effortlessly transitions from paved valley highways to dusty desert trails.

Exterior Design

The exterior of the 2026 CX-50 features a distinctively wide, athletic stance with pronounced wheel arches that signify its trail-ready nature. For this model year, Mazda has updated the lighting elements and introduced more aggressive styling cues across the body. The vehicle comes equipped with robust black aluminum roof rails designed to carry outdoor gear, high-gloss black or machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels up to 20 inches, and protective side rocker garnishes. Additional outdoor-centric trims, such as the Meridian Edition, add unique hood graphics and all-terrain elements. Standard LED headlights with high beam control and rain-sensing wipers handle unexpected weather changes, while a power sliding panoramic moonroof opens up the cabin to beautiful Arizona desert skies.

Interior Comfort and Technology

Mazda’s human-centered design approach is evident inside the well-insulated cabin, which minimizes highway noise during long drives. The cockpit is oriented around the driver with intuitive control layouts and premium materials. Buyers can select sophisticated color packages, including a Terracotta leather option or a crisp White interior treatment.

Comfort is managed via a dual-zone automatic climate control system, with ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel available to combat extreme summer temperatures. The tech lineup is anchored by a 10.25-inch full-color center display running the Mazda Connect infotainment system. This display features wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, multiple USB-C ports, and Alexa Built-in voice commands, letting drivers control functions hands-free.

Powertrain and Performance

Performance options cater to varying driving preferences, utilizing a responsive Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder setup. The standard naturally aspirated engine develops 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, managed by a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. For greater acceleration, the available turbocharged variant pushes output up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.

Additionally, a hybrid powertrain variant utilizes three electric motors and an electronic continuously variable transmission to generate 219 horsepower. Every gas model features standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive, while the hybrid utilizes Electronic All-Wheel Drive to ensure continuous traction. The Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) system allows operators to swap between Normal, Sport, and Off-Road modes, while turbo models gain a specialized Towing mode capable of pulling up to 3,500 pounds.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety features are expansive, driven by the standard inclusion of the i-Activsense suite across the entire 2026 lineup. Key driver assistance technologies include:

  • Smart Brake Support: Offers automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection functionality.
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert: Aids in safe lane merges and reversing maneuvers.
  • Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist: Promotes proper highway lane positioning.
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go: Automates following distances during heavy valley traffic.

Select trims add advanced protections, such as Front Crossing and Turn-Across Traffic braking support, front and rear parking sensors, and a high-resolution 360-degree View Monitor.
